VI. - DUTY OF THE BRUNSWICK COUNTY REGISTER OF DEEDS

The City of Southport shall file a copy of this ordinance with the Brunswick County Register of Deeds. The register of deeds shall not thereafter file or record a plat of subdivision located within the territorial jurisdiction of the City of Southport without the approval of the legislative body as required in this ordinance.
The landowner shown on a subdivision plat submitted for recording, or his authorized agent, shall sign a statement on the plat stating whether or not any land shown thereon is within the territorial jurisdiction of the City of Southport as defined herein.
The filing or recording of a plat of a subdivision without the approval of the municipal legislative body as required by this ordinance shall be null and void. The clerk of superior court of Brunswick County shall not order or direct the recording of a plat where such recording would be in conflict with this section.
No building permit shall be issued or construction permitted unless the final plat has been properly approved and recorded.
