§ 11-13.1. Dangerous weapons.

  • (a)

    It shall be unlawful for any person to carry, possess or have within his immediate access any dangerous weapon while in or upon city property.

    (b)

    For purposes of this section, the following words have the meaning indicated:

    City property means any building, park, recreational facility, cemetery, garage, parking lot or other public property owned by or controlled by the city.

    Dangerous weapon includes, but is not limited to, any firearm, rifle, pump gun, air rifle, air pistol, bowie knife, dirk, dagger, slingshot, loaded cane, metallic knuckles, razor, stun gun, switch blade knife, blackjack, nightstick, explosives or any other device or object designed to or intended to be used to inflict injury upon persons or property.

    (c)

    This section shall not apply to:

    (1)

    Sworn law enforcement officers.

    (2)

    Members of the armed forces or national guard while on duty.

    (3)

    Any person possessing a firearm in a cemetery for the purpose of conducting a military funeral pursuant to a permit obtained from the city.

    (4)

    Any person possessing a firearm in a city park for ceremonial purposes pursuant to a permit obtained from the city.
