§ 17-79. Prohibition of certain vehicles on light-traffic roads.

  • (a)

    It shall be unlawful for any person to drive or operate a truck or other motor vehicle having a gross weight in excess of thirteen thousand (13,000) pounds upon the following light-traffic roads within the city which are hereby designated as light-traffic roads:

    (1)

    Fodale Avenue from Howe Street to Moore Street.

    (2)

    Stuart Avenue from Howe Street to Moore Street.

    (3)

    Park Avenue from Leonard Street to Moore Street.

    (4)

    Willis Avenue from Leonard Street to Moore Street.

    (5)

    Turtlewood Drive between E. Moore Street and Leonard Street.

    (6)

    Grey Squirrel Path between Turtlewood Drive and Canvasback Court.

    (7)

    Canvasback Court between Grey Squirrel Path and E. Leonard Street.

    (8)

    Brunswick Street.

    (9)

    Yacht Basin Drive between W. Moore Street and Brunswick Street.

    (10)

    I Am Street.

    (b)

    The following trucks or motor vehicles are hereby exempted from the above light-traffic road limitations:

    (1)

    A truck or other motor vehicle when owned, operated by or under contract to a public utility, electric or telephone membership corporation or municipality and such motor vehicle is used in connection with the installation, restoration or emergency maintenance of utility services on said light-traffic road.

    (2)

    A firefighting vehicle operated by any member of a municipal or volunteer fire department in the performance of his duties and any vehicle of a voluntary lifesaving organization when operated by a member of that organization while answering an official call.

    (3)

    A fully enclosed motor vehicle designed specifically for collecting, compacting or hauling garbage from residences or garbage dumpsters located on said light-traffic roads.

    (4)

    A truck or motor vehicle when transporting heating fuel for on-premises use at a destination located on the light-traffic road.

    (5)

    A truck or other motor vehicle when transporting and delivering materials for on-premises use at a destination located on the light-traffic road or a truck or other motor vehicle when performing contractual work at a destination located on the light-traffic road.

    (6)

    Buses operated by a school or other educational institution for the purpose of transporting students between home and school.

    (c)

    The ordinance this section is derived from shall be effective whenever appropriate signs are erected indicating the contents hereof.
